4th Annual Beach Bike Ride (Wells, ME)

 logo

The 4th annual Beach Bike Ride is right around the corner! Here is your opportunity to give back to the community of Wells that we all know and love. Year round and Summer residents initially conceptualized this event for the Be Like Brit Foundation, which contributed the funds raised to help build an orphanage in Haiti after Britney Gengel, a summer resident, was killed in the Haiti earthquake while on a college mission trip. Now that the orphanage is built and the goal has been achieved, the Beach Bike Ride has decided to partner with the American Cancer Society. All funds raised will support Cancer Patients who reside in Maine. Be sure to sign up for the event on Saturday June, 15th. It will begin Wells Beach Harbor, 7:30am sharp.

Hampton Beach, NH Sand Sculpting Competition June 20th-22nd, 2013

img-sandcastle1

One of the most beloved weeks of the entire summer at Hampton Beach is the Sand Sculpting Competition. Talented sand sculptors come from across the nation (and internationally) to compete for the $15,000 prize. The competition was conceptualized in 2000, when the New Hampshire state quarter was released and Greg Grady was asked to make a sand sculpture replica. Since then, each year the competition is held and artists create masterpieces that “wow” spectators. The sculptures are sprayed with ‘windscreen’ to help preserve them for weeks to come, but be sure to stop by between June 20th-22nd to see the artists in action. On June 22nd the winner is announced and until July 7th the area will be illuminated at night for onlookers to enjoy.

If you would like to learn more about the Hampton Beach Sand Sculptors, please visit the website.
